An evening of Spanish and Latin American 20th-century art songs for voice and piano with Marina Karagianni, mezzo-soprano and Neus G. Ritort, piano. This programme traces the links between the art songs of Spain and Latin America and explores the relationship between the 'popular' or 'folk' music and poetry, and music as an expression of nationalism. The concert also showcases a range of nanas (lullabies) composed in different styles.

The concert 'Ayre Español' will present extracts from the Cantigas de Santa Maria, Cancioneiro de Upsala, the Ladino/Sephardic influence, as well as pieces by Antonio de Cabezón, Diego Ortiz, José Marín and others performed on period instruments, by the early music ensemble Il Festino. Il Festino consists of musicians who have gained their reputation on the Early Music Scene. Its contrasting yet complementary personalities and cultural backgrounds, combined with their outstanding talent, make this group very appealing and dynamic. The Ensemble has great passion and interest in exploring less-well-known Spanish and Latin American baroque composers.
