BGS Meeting 17th September 2022

Holidays are over, night closes in earlier. It is time to tune up your guitar and bring it along with you when you join our friendly group of classical guitarists. Ensemble pieces are studied and there is opportunity to play a solo if you wish.

This evening we were pleased to welcome a new guitarist who played with us as we tackled some of the Dances by Claude Gervaise. Not noticing or forgetting repeat marks caused some confusions but these were ironed out as we became more used to the layout of the written music. The Waltz No.2 by Shostakovich also had tricky moments when we needed to listen out to the bass for our cues.

In the break David kindly provided refreshments, after which we listened to solos from –

David Romance sans Paroles (Jose Ferrer y Esteve)
Tom Study in G (Napoleon Coste)
Nick Mountain Song (Lee Sollory)
Marion Steely Blue (Vincent Lindsey Clark)

The ensemble then played Waltz No.2 again, followed by Schindler’s List by John Williams arranged for four guitars.

We meet on the third Saturday of each month, so our next session is on Saturday 15 th October 2022.
See you then.
