David and Cornelius welcomed some visitors tonight, and hope they will join us. They played with the ensemble led by Cornelius in the pieces he has chosen for our entry in the Reigate Festival in May :-
Schindler’s List by John Williams and Classical Gas by Mason Williams [arr. Cornelius Bruinsma].
The rhythms for Classical Gas were tricky but Cornelius said these will ‘morph’ as we become more used to the music.
A break for refreshments, kindly provided by David, gave us a chance to chat and to individually welcome the visitors.
Our Annual General Meeting was chaired by David who outlined the present position of the Society.
Friendly, sensible suggestions were put forward about reaching out to potential future members, and about
the Society’s presence on the internet.
Time did not allow for solos tonight, and we finished off with a run through of A Dorimix by Bob Power led by Kate.
The Society meets on the third Saturday of each month.
Do join us for our next session on Saturday 18th March 2023 when we will continue work on the two pieces for the Festival among other items.
