Cornelius led the ensemble through the pieces he has chosen for our entry in the Reigate Festival in May :-
Schindler’s List by John Williams and
Classical Gas by Mason Williams [arr. Cornelius Bruinsma].
The rhythms for Classical Gas are tricky but the more we play through the piece the more we are getting used to how the parts fit together. Yannis had brought along a recording device so we played the two pieces straight through again. Unfortunately, the play-back did not seem to work too well, so we are going to have another go next time.
The break for refreshments, kindly provided by Kate, gave us a chance to chat together.

We finished the evening by playing A Dorimix by Bob Power and Catalan Folk Song by John Compton.
The Society meets on the third Saturday of each month. Do join us for our next session on Saturday 15 April 2023 when we will continue work on the two pieces for the Festival, play other items and also listen to some solos.
Our May session is cancelled by request of the Hall management. Our booking of May 20th has been changed to April 29th which gives us an extra rehearsal before the Festival.
