1 BIOGRAPHY OF DIANA POULTON - HELP WANTED!
The Life and Times of Diana Poulton
I am writing a biography of Diana Poulton, and would be grateful if any readers had any memories or materials which might help with my research. I am interested not only in her work in the reclamation of Dowland's music and the lute in general, but more widely in her time at the Slade, in publishing with Lawrence and Wishart and the connections through her mother with the art world.

You can contact me by email - thea@theas.co.uk , by post Thea Abbott, 6 Whitwell Road, Norwich, NR1 4HB or by telephone 01603 629899. I would of course acknowledge my sources, or not as they wished.

2. PAINTING OF LUTE PLAYER COMING UP AT AUCTION
Perhaps your members would be interested to know about a painting coming up for sale at Bonhams, London July 8th.

I was lucky to stumble across it. It is a painting of a 17th century lute player (nothing rare about that I suppose), but it shows the lute, almost like the head is sticking out of the canvas. Clearly showing the thickness' of the strings and how they are tied. It is not listed on Bonhams web site yet, but I guess if you look at the end of June they will have a photo of it there. Search; Jacob Oost (1601-1671) the artist.
