Happy New Year 2017

Slightly belated happy new year to everyone!

There are a few items to communicate to everyone - please see the round-up below.

December 5th Meeting
At our one and only meeting in December we had a good turnout. We played some Christmas carols and we did a fun exercise of playing different carols to the group from smaller ensembles. There were some nice arrangements here, so much so that they sounded quite sublime when played - thanks John.

We also had a go at the Xote by Celso Machado, and The Sage Leaf and Reveillez-vous Picards..

Trevor provided some excellent homemade cake at the break after which we were treated to solos as below, and then a few more carols before we broke up for the year. Thanks to all for a great year - it was very eventful and you helped make all of the events a success.

Solo performances this evening:

Marion Davis Prelude at the Villa (Peter Nuttall)
Eduardo Gonzalez El Negrito (Antonio Lauro)
Cueca Chileana (Trad. arr. Antonio Lauro)
Andrew Ferrier Earl of Derby his Galliard (John Dowland)

Bromley Music Festival
Just a reminder that we are resolved to enter this competition, (provisional date Sunday 12th March in the early evening) with our Tangomania. We currently have 10 people confirmed to play - if your name is not on the list below and you want to participate and can definitely make it, please mention it to John or Larisa at the next meeting. The closing date is 17th January.

G1: Andrew, Lesley
G2: David
G3: Alex
G4: no one at present
G5: Ivan, Trevor
G6: Marion
G7: Vince, Eduardo
G8: Larisa

Meetings in 2017 (first half of year)
The schedule of meetings has been updated on the right of the blog (or further down the page for mobile devices).

Thereafter it is yet to be determined if we will have two meetings per month. The likelihood is that for the remainder of 2017 we will only have one meeting per month in order to preserve the finances.

Guitar Performance Workshop in Greenwich
Greenwich Music School is holding a one-day performance course with Arngeir Hauksson on Sunday, 29th January from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. There will be some flyers available at our next meetings in case anyone is interested.
