BGS Meeting December 7th 2019

Congratulations to the quartet for their success in the Beckenham Festival! Well done.

And a warm welcome to Paul who joined us for the first time this evening.

This evening was our ‘Christmas’ meeting so we played lots of carols from music David had sent us. The arrangements were pretty straightforward, so we challenged ourselves by playing each of the four parts in rotation – excellent sight-reading and listening practice, and everyone got to play the tune. We particularly enjoyed ‘Walking in the Air’.

The extended refreshment break included coffee and tea as usual but with mince pies and popcorn, plus mulled wine kindly provided by Thomas.

We were then treated to the following solo and duet performances:

Ivan and Marion Tempo di Marcia (J Kuffner)
Victoria Halleluiah (L. Cohen)
Tom Arrangements of three carols

Our first meetings of 2020 will be on Saturday 4th and Saturday 18th of January, when we will start to choose pieces to play in the upcoming festivals.

Meantime, here's wishing everyone a Happy Christmas and we'll look forward to enjoying some more plucking and strumming in the New Year!

Please visit the Current Ensemble Repertoire page to see the pieces we are currently working on.
