BGS Meeting January 18th 2020

Another newcomer came through the door tonight. As he left at the end of the session, Raymond said “See you on February 1st .” Yes, we do look forward to you joining us again!

The group tackled Bai Mudan, White Peony, a traditional Chinese Folk Song arranged by Andrew Forrest. Then a four part arrangement of Walking in the Air. Tom brought us some new music – Smooth Blues by John Compton – which we sight read and considered possible to play in our next competition.

We have entered to play in an Ensemble Class in the Bromley Guitar Festival on Sunday 8th March. As we have just three sessions before then, we need to put in plenty of individual practice at home. We plan to play the three pieces above together with some South American tunes arranged by Ethor Thorlaksson, which we finished the evening with. Our selection of pieces will present a wide variety of styles and moods. Tom was the only soloist this evening:

Tom Leccion No.49 (Jose Ferrer)

 La Gatica (Antonio Lauro)

Our sessions in February will be on Saturdays 1st and 15th .

Happy guitar playing in 2020!

Please visit the Current Ensemble Repertoire page to see the pieces we are currently working on.
