BGS February 20th 2016 Meeting

Another good turnout of seventeen this evening. We'll be running out of seats at this rate! We started with an ensemble warm-up, playing a piece by Peter Van der Staak during which we each took a different guitar part and cycled through each part on subsequent playings - a really good sight-reading exercise. Suitably warmed up we launched into some serious practice of Yesterday, Greensleeves and Ballad (Mark Houghton), these pieces forming part of the set we'll be playing at our April 'gig'.

The break-time refreshments were provided as usual by Trevor - many thanks as always Trev!
After a few announcements about FGS Day, (26th June – mark your calendars) there came a great selection of solo performances:

Tom Rimmer  Pastorale (Carcassi)
Vince Chittenden Spririt of Falling Leaves (Takei)
 Sakura (Trad)
Make Tomorrow A Sunny Day (Trad)
Teymur Dadashov Canzon (Di Milano)
Freddie Carvalho Taking a Chance on Love (Vernon Duke) arr.Carvalho
Somebody Loves me (G. Gershwin) arr.Carvalho
Rob Sellery

Andrew Ferrier
 Sugarloaf Mountain (Ryan)
 The Reason (McGee)

Indaco  (Ludovico Einaudi)

We reconvened in the final part of the meeting  to work on the Romance Without Words (Faure).

We will continue to work hard towards the events coming up – NADFAS and FGS, and no doubt have some fun doing it! See you on the 5th.

As Larisa mentioned at the meeting, there may be a few spaces left on the Beechwood Course - March 29 - April 1? Contact is Ray Love.

Please visit the Current Ensemble Repertoire page to see the pieces we are currently working on.
