BGS Meeting 3rd Nov 2018

The ensemble is entered for the Beckenham Festival on Sunday 18 November. We have only one more meeting before that date so we gave full attention to rehearsing our three pieces:
  • Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by J S Bach arranged in four parts
  • Minuet by Boccherini arranged by K Love. (Players kept in time better tonight)
  • Sage Leaf from The English Dancing Master 1670, arranged by Andrew Forrest

Then we played through the four part arrangement by Edson Lopes of Quebra Cabecas by Ernesto Nazareth which we started last session. The geography of the piece still proved a challenge but we are getting the hang of it!

After the break for refreshments served by Trevor, and for news updates, we listened to more solos than we are usually privileged to listen to:

Victoria Berceuse (Peter Nuttall)
 Etude (Ferdinando Carulli)
Tom Intrada from Partita in C (anon)
Thomas Intrada (J.S. Bach)
David Vueluo al Sud (Piazzola)
 Auseucias (Piazzola)
John Coral and Cuna (Frederico Mompou)
Antonio Prelude No.1 (Villa-Lobos)
Toby Allegro Spiritoso 1st movement of Op.15 (Mauro Giuliani)

There were a few minutes at the end of the evening for the ensemble to play our three
pieces through again..

Please visit the Current Ensemble Repertoire page to see the pieces we are currently working on.
