BGS Meeting 19th May 2018

Fourteen of us gathered for more ensemble playing and solos. We had a look first at Tico Tico, one of the pieces set for the Federation Day big ensemble. This is a lively piece with some strumming and one or two instances of percussion by Guitar 1, and the timing needs to be gotten to grips with, but it is well on its way.

Next we looked again at the Elgar - Salut d'Amour. John compared it to a Summer's day and encouraged us to play it delicately, with fine dynamics.

After a break for refreshments, (thanks Trevor), we enjoyed performances from the following:

Tom Allemande (J. Logy)
Eduardo Mazurka in G (F. Tárrega)
Trevor and Toby

Nostalgia (song by C. Kenny; Toby's own arrangement for guitar)

After the solos we duly practised the Elgar again a few more times before calling it an evening.
