Turnout was good for this our last meeting before the
Federation Day in Cambridge. We worked on both FGS pieces - first Tico Tico and then
Gustav's Dream, the dreamy (as the name might suggest) piece by Olga
Amelkina-Vera meant to imply Gustav Mahler's nightmare which then resolves into
serenity.
We then set about on our last rehearsal of our performance
pieces, the Cueca by Barrios and Elgar's Salut D’Amour. These pieces are just
about ready for the event!
After the tea break - thanks Trevor as always! - we enjoyed a
wealth of solo performances:
John | Julia Florida (Augustin Barrios Mangore) |
Teymur | Romance (Yuri Smirnov) |
Tom Eduardo Andrew (on lute guitar) | La Cavelleria de Napolis (Gaspar Sanz) Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel (Albert Harris) The woods so wilde (Francis Cutting) Catalata De Spagna (Juan Dalza) |
