BGS Meeting 6th Oct 2018

This evening we welcomed a new player who joined in with the ensemble playing. We hope he will become a member of the Society.

John has enrolled the ensemble for the Beckenham Festival on Sunday 18th November, so we are concentrating efforts on our three pieces:

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring by J S Bach arranged in four parts.
On the whole we kept the beat well. Part 4 players need to remember to retune string 6 back to E before playing the next piece.

Minuet by Boccherini arranged by K Love.
Still a tendency to speed up.

Sage Leaf from The English Dancing Master 1670, arranged by Andrew Forrest.

After a break for refreshments and chat, we listened to four solos..

Tom Study in G (Napoleon Coste)
Max [debut] Wild Mountain Thyme (arr. Scott Tennant)
Eduardo Prelude (Hart)
Andrew [on Lute] Galliard (Holborne)
 Lady Hudson's Puff (John Dowland)

The evening was rounded off by the ensemble playing our three pieces through again..

Please visit the Current Ensemble Repertoire page to see the pieces we are currently working on.
